Shout-Up! is coming to Durham

Shout-Up! is expanding into County Durham, with venues in the City of Durham able to begin the certification process from 2026.

The programme will be delivered locally by Rape and Sexual Abuse Counselling Centre (RSACC), Darlington and County Durham.

Shout-Up! works with licensed venues to support safer working and social environments by training staff to understand sexual harassment, recognise it when it happens, and intervene safely. Certification shows a clear commitment to staff welfare, customer safety and responsible venue management.

For venues, Shout-Up! provides practical tools rather than tick-box policies. Staff gain confidence in handling difficult situations, managers are supported to meet their duty of care, and venues benefit from being recognised as places where harassment is not ignored or normalised. Safer venues are also places where people are more likely to stay longer, return, and recommend to others.

Venues in the City of Durham can now register their interest in becoming Shout-Up! certified ahead of the 2026 launch.
